Island Hopping

The Northern Sporades are the islands of Mamma Mia — and there is no better way to discover them than by sailing from Volos. The classic route visits four islands: Trikeri, Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos, with a day excursion to the uninhabited Kyra Panagia. Daily legs of 15–30 nautical miles, sheltered anchorages, pine forests and azure water — this is Greece as it once was.

What you'll experience

Skiathos at sunrise

Moor while the harbour is still quiet. The first hours are yours alone — coffee on deck, the village slowly waking up.

Beaches only by boat

Lalaria and Tsougria are unreachable on foot. You anchor 50 metres off. Everyone goes over the side.

Dolphins off Alonissos

In the National Marine Park, bottlenose dolphins appear beside the bow. You can't plan it — it just happens.

Evenings at anchor

A quiet bay, stars overhead, the sound of water. No restaurant terrace comes close.

The islands

Skiathos

The liveliest island of the Sporades, with 62 beaches along its coast. The picturesque harbour buzzes with tavernas in the evenings. Some beaches are only reachable by boat — a privilege reserved for sailing guests.

  • Koukounaries — one of Greece's finest beaches
  • Lalaria — white pebble beach with blue sea caves, by boat only
  • Kastro — abandoned medieval hilltop town on the north coast
  • Vibrant harbour with Greek tavernas and sea views

Skopelos

The greenest island of the Sporades and the real Mamma Mia location. Skopelos town has 123 churches and chapels. Agios Ioannis chapel — perched high on a cliff above the sea — is the iconic wedding chapel from the film.

  • Agios Ioannis — the 300-step Mamma Mia wedding chapel
  • Glossa — authentic hilltop village, no mass tourism
  • Panormos bay — peaceful turquoise anchorage
  • Skopelos town with 123 churches and a Venetian castle

Alonissos

The wildest and most unspoiled island — and the most overlooked by tourists. Home to the largest National Marine Park in Greece. The water here is so clear you can see the seabed at 15 metres depth.

  • National Marine Park — largest marine reserve in Greece
  • Dolphin watching: bottlenose and common dolphins live here
  • Underwater ruins of ancient Ikos — snorkelling paradise
  • Chora (the old village) — restored white hilltop settlement
